Nurturing ASEAN Talent: 10 Faculty from Nanjing Vocational Institution of Transport Technology Named to CATECP Expert Pool

In June 2024, the China–ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform (CATECP)

In June 2024, the China–ASEAN Technical Education Cooperation Platform (CATECP) released the latest roster for its expert pool. Ten key faculty members from our institution’s Intelligent Logistics Technology program, including Lin Rong, Jiang Jun, and Ma Yaowen, were selected for the CATECP Expert Pool in recognition of their strong academic expertise and outstanding capacity for international engagement and professional service. This achievement not only represents strong recognition of the teachers’ professional competence, but also reflects the institution’s sustained efforts to internationalize vocational education and build a high-caliber team of “dual-qualified” teachers. It also marks a solid step forward for our institution in contributing to the Belt and Road Initiative and promoting the international adoption and application of Chinese vocational education standards. The selected teachers possess both an international outlook and strong cross-cultural communication skills. They keep abreast of the latest industry developments and can integrate the latest technical standards into teaching and standards development, providing the institution with a valuable pool of expertise for expanding international exchange and cooperation.

As members of the platform’s core advisory body, the ten experts will play an active role in high-level planning and core operations. They will assist vocational institutions in ASEAN countries in aligning their programs with Chinese vocational education standards and optimizing education and training programs to meet regional industry needs. They will rigorously review the quality of the platform’s teaching resources to ensure that the content delivered through the platform is up to date and practical. They will also participate in developing internationally applicable logistics skills standards, promote the advancement of Chinese standards into regional and even international benchmarks, and strengthen the international voice and influence of Chinese vocational education. At the same time, they will serve as ambassadors for cultural exchange, promoting deeper engagement and resource sharing between China and ASEAN in vocational education and further advancing regional vocational education cooperation.

The institution will use this selection as an opportunity to further improve its mechanisms for developing and incentivizing internationally competent faculty. It will continue to support faculty in undertaking academic exchanges and providing technical services through international platforms, while drawing on advanced educational practices from abroad to inform and strengthen its internal teaching reforms. In this way, the institution will promote mutually reinforcing progress in both “bringing in” international expertise and “going global.” Looking ahead, the selected experts will continue to draw on their professional strengths and contribute the expertise and insights of our institution to deeper China–ASEAN technical education cooperation. They will also help the institution achieve further breakthroughs in advancing the internationalization of vocational education.
