“Chinese + Vocational Skills” programs represent a high-quality international output of Chinese vocational education. They are also an important initiative for NJITT — Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology — to enhance its international education capacity and share high-quality vocational education resources globally. Recently, relying on the platform of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), NJITT launched a series of “Chinese + Vocational Skills” training programs for participants from 11 ASEAN countries, further supporting ASEAN youth in learning Chinese language and vocational skills while cultivating localized overseas employees for Chinese enterprises expanding abroad.
The training program offered four categories of courses, including “Chinese + Intelligent Logistics Technology,” “Chinese + Road and Bridge Engineering Technology,” “Chinese + Construction Engineering Technology,” and “Chinese + Traditional Chinese Culture.” Through a combination of “live online teaching + digital learning resources + online learning platform,” the program adopted an integrated approach of “theoretical learning + immersive skills training.” A total of seven teachers from the School of Road and Port Engineering, the School of Transportation Management, the School of Construction Engineering, and the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange participated in the teaching. Students from universities and practitioners from related industries across 11 ASEAN countries joined the training sessions.
On September 28, the first lecture of the “Chinese +” training series — “Chinese + Intelligent Logistics Technology” — was successfully held online. A total of 196 students and enterprise employees from eight countries, including Cambodia and the Philippines, participated in the training. Mr. Ma Yaowen from the School of Transportation Management delivered a special lecture entitled *Application of Intelligent Logistics Technology in Chinese Logistics Enterprises*. In his presentation, he systematically introduced the development and application of advanced technologies in China, including intelligent logistics information technology, artificial intelligence in logistics, and blockchain technology in intelligent logistics. In addition, he designed targeted online skills-training activities based on relevant professional knowledge. The training content was highly professional and practical, receiving enthusiastic feedback from participants.
During the interactive Q&A session, Mr. Ma also engaged in in-depth discussions with participants on the application of intelligent logistics technologies in ASEAN countries. Students actively raised questions, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere throughout the session.
As the “first lesson” of NJITT’s “Chinese +” training initiative for ASEAN countries, this program laid a solid foundation for future training activities. Moving forward, NJITT will continue to overcome the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, break through time and geographical barriers, further explore innovative “Chinese + Vocational Skills” education models, establish a resource-sharing platform for “Chinese + Vocational Skills” education, build a distinctive educational brand, and contribute NJITT’s vocational education solutions to international cooperation and development.
