On April 25, the “Zheng He · Treasure Ship Workshop” overseas teaching delegation from Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology successfully returned to Nanjing after completing their training mission in Brunei. Centered on deepening China-Brunei vocational education cooperation, the delegation delivered high-quality international education services through training sessions, enterprise research visits, and academic exchange activities for students, faculty, and corporate representatives, further enhancing the institute’s international influence.
Professional Training with Deep Integration of Theory and Practice. The delegation conducted a series of specialized training sessions for students and faculty of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Laksamana College of Business (LCB), covering topics such as international trade, e-commerce, and logistics information technology. Ms. HAO Zhongna delivered sessions on “Overview of E-Commerce Development” and “International Trade Supply Chain Management,” systematically introducing the latest industry developments and enhancing students’ practical skills through simulation demonstrations. Ms. WU Xuan taught “International Marketing” and “International Trade Practice,” using case studies and interactive discussions to illustrate market strategies and trade operations. Cross-disciplinary lectures on the application of information technology in industry and trends in international logistics also broadened the professional horizons of faculty and students, receiving high praise.
Chinese + Vocational Skills, Serving Chinese Enterprises Going Global. In parallel with professional training, the project innovatively established a “Chinese Language + Vocational Skills” integrated training system, delivering customized training to more than 400 participants, including local youths and overseas employees of Chinese enterprises in Brunei. Based on the specific needs of institutions such as the Muara Port Company (MPC) and the Brunei Chinese Enterprises Association, the delegation designed training modules including “Cross-Border E-Commerce Operations” and “International Trade Supply Chain Management,” strengthening participants’ practical skills in cross-border trade, warehousing, and transportation management. The training not only helps Chinese enterprises address challenges in localizing their overseas workforce, but also opens new pathways for Bruneian youth seeking careers in international companies, promoting sustainable capacity building through skills development.
School-Enterprise Collaboration, Exploring New Paths for Integrating Industry and Education. During the mission, the delegation conducted research visits to the Muara Port Company (MPC) and local educational institutions. During the “Corporate Open Day” hosted by the Muara Port Company (MPC), the delegation examined port operation and management models and exchanged views with company representatives on logistics talent cultivation. Campus tours and course observations at IBTE and LCB also sparked discussions on the development of practical training facilities, curriculum system development, joint appointment of faculty with both academic and industry expertise, and student internship and employment, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
Project Expansion, Creating a Benchmark in Vocational Education Cooperation. The “Zheng He · Treasure Ship Workshop” is one of the international cooperation projects through which Nanjing Vocational Institute of Transport Technology supports the Belt and Road Initiative. Currently focusing on collaboration with Brunei and Uzbekistan, the project aims to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talent locally by exporting internationalized curricula and jointly developing skill standards, thus supporting the internationalization of Chinese vocational education. This overseas mission represents another significant step in the institute’s internationalization efforts in Southeast Asia, marking solid progress in its journey to become a world-class transport-focused vocational institution.
